Training and Education

The provision of training and education for members has been a central part of CHCC activity ever since its inception. The College varies the number and nature of courses depending on the perceived needs of chaplains, and the CHCC Council receives regular reports on training events.

For many years the two main College courses have been the CHCC Annual Study Course and the Annual Mental Health Resource Group Conference. These events attract leading speakers from the world of chaplaincy and also give College members the opportunity to spend time with colleagues in a supportive environment.

The College also runs an annual introductory course for those new to the world of chaplaincy, and has been a leader in the field with its early inclusion of reflective practice as a key ingredient of the course. The value of the reflective practice groups during the training has often been the most highly evaluated element of the course.

At the same time it is important to recognise that a lot of study days and training events happen at the local level. The vibrant Branch structure of the College sees regional meetings that focus discussion on local issues, as well as drawing in speakers who can give a national perspective.

From this education and training home page you can link to details of all the current and future College courses.
